Diriyah Company has awarded a $600 million (SAR 2.249 billion) contract to Salini Saudi Arabia, a subsidiary of the Webuild Group, to deliver the next major phase of Diriyah Square—a landmark mixed-use real estate project situated in the heart of the Diriyah masterplan, dubbed The City of Earth.
Part of Saudi Arabia’s giga-project ecosystem, Diriyah Square will feature 400 luxury retail, dining, and leisure experiences. The precinct reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to cultural authenticity, with 73 Najdi-style buildings planned across a 365,340 sq m built-up area. The project’s architecture pays homage to 300 years of Saudi heritage and is designed to deliver an immersive, pedestrian-focused experience.
The construction scope includes shell-and-core works for retail units, façade installations, interior fit-outs, and key infrastructure to support the district’s seamless operation. Salini is already advancing construction of a 10,500-space underground car park, one of the largest in the world, featuring VIP drop-offs, bus terminals, and a four-lane subterranean gyratory road for optimal traffic flow.
Project Highlights
“Diriyah Square is one of our most exciting, anticipated and prestigious districts, and we are extremely pleased to have signed with Salini to deliver it, bringing their immense global experience to the table,” said Jerry Inzerillo, Group CEO, Diriyah Company. “It is yet another significant milestone in our development journey and will help set the stage for Diriyah Square’s retail spaces to welcome a diverse array of shoppers from our residential communities, surrounding office spaces and the millions who visit us every year.”
Pietro Salini, CEO of Webuild, added, “We are proud to contribute to a project of such symbolic and strategic importance to Saudi Arabia. We remain committed to supporting the Kingdom in developing some of the world’s most complex infrastructure projects.”
Diriyah Square is projected to host 400 of the 1,000 outlets planned across the broader SAR 237 billion ($63.2 billion) Diriyah development. With the new contract award, Diriyah Company’s total contracts have surpassed SAR 100 billion ($26 billion), including SAR 20 billion ($5 billion) in awards during H1 2025 alone.
The overall masterplan will contribute $18.6 billion (SAR 70 billion) to Saudi GDP, generate 180,000 jobs, and house 100,000 residents. It will also feature a university, museums, the Royal Diriyah Opera House, a Greg Norman-designed golf course, and elite hospitality and equestrian facilities.
