South Africa’s REdimension Closes $14m PropTech, Sustainability Fund

REdimension Capital has announced the final close of its Real Estate Technology & Sustainability Fund I, securing commitments of more than ZAR250 million ($14 million). The fund will back early-stage PropTech companies driving digital transformation and sustainability in Africa’s built environment.

The second and final close brought in new investors Hyprop Investments and RDC Property Group, alongside increased commitments from existing backers. Other investors include Burstone Group, Growthpoint Properties, Rand Merchant Bank, Liberty Two Degrees, and Sphere Holdings.

Founded by Peter Clark and Matthew Marshall, REdimension Capital operates a platform model that gives portfolio startups access to commercial partnerships, pilot projects, and strategic guidance from leading real estate corporates and financial players.

Since its first close in July 2023, the fund has invested in Admyt (a ticketless parking and mobility solution), RE-Tec Solutions (a tenant lifecycle management platform), The Good People Data Company (compliance and data services), Rode Publications & Media (real estate analytics) and Roomking (a rental housing marketplace).

The fund’s close underscores a broader trend: proptech adoption in South Africa is accelerating as landlords and developers seek greater efficiency, stronger tenant engagement, and improved sustainability outcomes. With listed property giants like Growthpoint and Hyprop on board, REdimension is positioning itself as a bridge between nimble startups and established corporates.

As commercial real estate faces rising operating costs and growing ESG pressures, the fund could serve as a model for similar sector-focused VC initiatives across Africa.
