Marjan and Wynn Resorts have officially broken ground on Janu Al Marjan Island, a luxury hotel and branded residences development in Ras Al Khaimah.
The project marks the second joint venture between Marjan, the master developer of Al Marjan Island, and Wynn Resorts. Scheduled to open in 2029, the development will be located next to Wynn Al Marjan Island, the UAE's first integrated gaming resort, which is currently under construction.
Janu Al Marjan Island will be the first Janu destination in Ras Al Khaimah, further expanding Aman Group's presence in the UAE. The development was first announced in November 2025 and is now moving into construction.
The groundbreaking ceremony brought together senior representatives from Marjan, Wynn Resorts, Aman Group and key project stakeholders to mark the official start of work on the project.
Designed by SCDA Architects, Janu Al Marjan Island will include a luxury hotel, branded residences and wellness-led experiences within a waterfront setting on Al Marjan Island.
Janu, which means “soul” in Sanskrit, is Aman Group's lifestyle hospitality brand and is centred on wellbeing, social connection and contemporary luxury.
Arch. Abdulla Al Abdouli, Group Chief Executive Officer of Marjan, said the groundbreaking marks an important milestone in the long-term vision for Al Marjan Island as a globally recognised waterfront destination.
“As we continue to attract the world's leading hospitality brands and investment partners, we are creating a diverse portfolio that strengthens Ras Al Khaimah's tourism economy, expands its international appeal and supports sustainable long-term growth,” he said.
He added that Janu's approach to modern luxury aligns with the destination's broader development vision and opens a new chapter in Al Marjan Island's journey on the global stage.
Max Tappeiner, President of Wynn Al Marjan Island, said Janu is a natural complement to Wynn's own destination project on the island.
“Its distinctive approach to hospitality brings something new to the destination. As neighbouring developments, we expect a natural connection between our guests and residents that will create meaningful benefits for both properties,” he said.
Vlad Doronin, Chairman and CEO of Aman Group, said Ras Al Khaimah is a natural home for the Janu brand as one of the Middle East's emerging destinations.
He said Janu Al Marjan Island will offer a setting where residents and guests can connect through shared experiences, engage with the region's natural landscape and experience the brand's approach to contemporary living.
The project adds another major hospitality and branded residential development to Al Marjan Island's growing pipeline. As Ras Al Khaimah continues to attract international hospitality brands and investment partners, Al Marjan Island is strengthening its position as one of the region's most closely watched waterfront lifestyle destinations.
