Paying annual rent in Dubai could soon become more flexible, with a new Rent Now, Pay Later service set to allow eligible tenants to divide their rental commitments into monthly payments without interest.
Expected to launch in September 2026, the initiative is being developed by the Dubai Land Department (DLD) in partnership with a local bank and will allow tenants to spread annual rental payments across up to 12 monthly installments.
The model brings rental payments closer to the way most residents receive their income, creating an alternative to managing larger rental payments through one or several cheques during the year.
Under the proposed service, eligible tenants will be able to access the monthly payment option at zero interest, offering greater flexibility in managing household cash flow while maintaining annual tenancy arrangements.
The initiative also builds on Dubai’s wider move towards more flexible and digitally enabled rental payments.
In June, DLD launched its Flexi Rent initiative with 11 real estate partners, enabling tenants to choose between monthly, quarterly and semi-annual rental payment schedules. The programme forms part of the emirate’s efforts to improve flexibility within the rental market and support the objectives of the Dubai Real Estate Sector Strategy 2033.
The upcoming Rent Now, Pay Later service takes that shift a step further by introducing a banking partnership into the rental payment ecosystem.
For Dubai’s residential sector, the development could make annual leases easier to manage for tenants while giving landlords access to a more structured payment mechanism. It also reflects the growing role of financial technology in reshaping the rental experience, from digital contracts and direct bank payments to increasingly flexible payment schedules.
Further details on eligibility and the application process are expected as the September launch approaches.
As Dubai’s rental market continues to expand, the move adds another option to an increasingly flexible leasing landscape, giving residents greater choice in how they manage one of their largest annual household commitments.
