Hayi, a Dubai based start-up has developed a free to use mobile application whose primary aim is to increase engagement within neighbourhoods in the UAE. Launched in 2020, by Chris Darnell and Rene Morgan, the app is a unique platform that connects individuals from the same neighbourhood within a safe and exclusive environment. The creators of the app identified how the fast paced lifestyle of a majority of the population has led to a considerable lack of interactions with neighbours, which has resulted in a growing feeling of social isolation .

Standing apart from other social media and messaging platforms, Hayi maintains the safety and exclusivity of users through geofencing . A technology that ensures only users living in a particular neighbourhood can access the content on the app. As of August 2021, the app has connected over 6,000 satisfied users across 20 neighbourhoods in Dubai and is looking to eventually contribute to not only how residents interact with each other but also with management services .
