Aldar has partnered with the Abu Dhabi Department of Community Development (DCD) to launch Yas Community Park, a new public destination on Yas Island that will introduce Nabdh Yas, Abu Dhabi's first public-private partnership model for community infrastructure.
Scheduled to open in phases from late 2026, the park has been designed as a shared community space for residents and visitors, bringing together recreation, social engagement and essential neighbourhood amenities within one integrated destination.
At the centre of the development is Nabdh Yas, a community hub that will host programmes and activities for families, young people and senior residents. Developed through a collaboration between Aldar and DCD, the hub represents a new delivery model in which private-sector investment supports the creation of long-term community infrastructure, while DCD will oversee its operation and community programming.
The initiative is formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding between Aldar and DCD, establishing a framework to expand the Nabdh Community Hub concept across future Aldar developments in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra.
Beyond the community hub, Yas Community Park will feature a mosque, an inclusive playground designed for children of all abilities, landscaped public spaces and a range of retail outlets intended to serve the surrounding residential neighbourhoods.
The project forms part of the wider Yas Inclusive City initiative, a joint programme between Aldar and DCD aimed at positioning Yas Island as a benchmark for accessible and inclusive urban living. The development also aligns with the UAE's Year of Family, with a focus on creating public spaces that encourage social interaction, wellbeing and community participation.
Commenting on the launch, Talal Al Dhiyebi, Group Chief Executive Officer of Aldar, said the project reflects the developer's commitment to creating communities centred on accessibility, inclusion and a sense of belonging.
H.E. Eng. Hamad Ali Al Dhaheri, Undersecretary of the Department of Community Development, said the partnership represents an important step towards strengthening community centres within residential neighbourhoods while expanding opportunities for volunteering, learning and social engagement.
For Abu Dhabi's real estate sector, the project highlights an increasing focus on community infrastructure as a key component of large-scale master developments. As residential communities mature, developers are placing greater emphasis on public spaces and social amenities that enhance long-term liveability alongside traditional residential and commercial offerings.
