Cancelling a rental contract in Ajman is becoming considerably simpler, as the emirate moves another property-related government service away from paperwork and manual processing towards fully digital, automated transactions.
The Ajman Municipality and Planning Department has introduced a unified digital contract cancellation service through its Tasdeeq system, allowing eligible contracts to be cancelled automatically once both parties to the agreement provide their approval.
The change removes several steps that previously added time and administrative work to the cancellation process.
Under the new system, customers do not need to submit supporting attachments or wait for an employee to manually review and approve the transaction. Once the required approvals from the contracting parties have been completed, the cancellation can be processed automatically and immediately.
The service is also available remotely and around the clock, giving landlords and tenants greater flexibility over when and where they complete the transaction.
While the update concerns a relatively routine part of rental administration, its impact is relevant to a much wider segment of Ajman's property market. Rental contracts are among the most frequent interactions residents, landlords, property managers and real estate companies have with municipal systems.
Reducing the number of steps involved in these transactions can therefore have a direct impact on the day-to-day experience of operating within the rental market.
For landlords and property managers handling multiple units, faster contract closures can reduce administrative delays between tenancies. For tenants, meanwhile, a digital process eliminates unnecessary visits and documentation when concluding a rental relationship, provided the required consent has been obtained.
The municipality has positioned the initiative within the UAE's broader Zero Government Bureaucracy direction, describing the redesigned service as achieving 100% Zero Bureaucracy through the removal of unnecessary requirements and procedures.
It also reflects a wider transformation taking place across the UAE's real estate sector, where digital platforms are increasingly being used for leasing, registration, property transactions, payments and other government-facing processes.
Ajman's rental market itself has continued to expand alongside the emirate's broader property sector. According to figures previously announced by the municipality, 73,472 rental contracts worth AED 2.91 billion were recorded during the first half of 2026.
That level of activity makes improvements to rental administration increasingly important. As transaction volumes grow, automated systems can help government entities manage demand without requiring a corresponding increase in manual processing.
The new cancellation service is also part of a broader move towards creating a more integrated digital property ecosystem. Instead of digitising paperwork while retaining multiple approval stages behind the scenes, authorities are increasingly redesigning services so that transactions can move from application to completion with less human intervention.
For Ajman's real estate market, the development may not alter rental values or supply, but it addresses another factor that matters to investors and residents: how easy it is to interact with the property system itself.
As competition between UAE property markets increasingly extends beyond projects and pricing to the overall investor and resident experience, faster digital processes are becoming an important part of the real estate proposition.
